I just wanted to say that Arya suports flowers ♥ As for the main issue.. well I agree with la-bella-borgia. (I love both characters btw)
I love them both too but as i said before, the post was NOT IN ANY WAY SHAPE OR FORM, pitting the girls against each other, they were simply points i used to illustrate the issue in our society (maybe not very well but i was just trying to get my point across.)
There’s many problematic things with this that bug me, starting with the gender roles assigned to these stuff but for now i’ll be focusing on what it does to girls, specifically.
The thing is, girls who like pink, girls who like flowers and skirts and supposedly feminine things are very much thought of as weak and useless.
I’ll give you an example: Sansa and Arya Stark from A Song of Ice and Fire/ Game of Thrones. Arya is a fandom favorite, Sansa is generally hated by the fandom. Sansa likes romance, princes, lemon cakes and pretty things. Arya likes playing with swords, hates dresses and would like the freedom to roll around in the mud with her direwolf. The two Stark girls are at opposite ends of the social spectrum. “As different as the sun and the moon.” As Lord Stark so poetically put it.
Now, i won’t get into Arya here because what i’m talking about here is why people who like pretty things are so looked down upon.
Because Sansa likes pretty things, the fandom says she’s dumb, that she’s weak and useless and it’s something i really don’t understand and it’s, unfortunately, a reflection of the society we live in. But i ask you now how is liking pretty things different from liking, say, action movies? How is liking flowers different from liking video games? It’s not, they are tastes and different people have different tastes. That’s all there is to it. Liking pretty things doesn’t make you weak or useless just as much as liking wresting doesn’t give you physical strength. You simply like pretty things. You simply like wrestling.
I find it really strange that people don’t understand this, it’s so simple…
Anyway, i would like to hear what you guys have to say so, opinions?

Sansa thought of the games she would play as a young child, always insisting that Robb joined in. He could never refuse and so he would be the brave knight to her captured princess, with Arya often playing the villain. The rescue attempt would always end with a sword fight while Sansa cheered Robb on, and when he won he would pick her up and spin her around while she laughed happily, kissing his cheek and declaring him the bravest knight in the seven kingdoms.
Though they were silly games of pretend, still Sansa waited in King’s Landing with the hope that Robb would be her knight just one more time.
The Wolves will come again.
“It hurts so much, she thought. Our children, Ned, all our sweet babes. Rickon, Bran, Arya, Sansa, Robb… Robb… please, Ned, please, make it stop, make it stop hurting… the white tears and the red ones ran together until her face was torn and tattered, the face that Ned had loved. Catelyn Stark raised her hands and watched the blood run down her long fingers, over her wrists, beneath the sleeves of her gown.”
It was her mother she wanted
Winter is coming, warned the Stark words, and truly it had come for them with a vengeance.
